This has been around for a long while. I remember that there was a copy of it posted in the graduate lounge at UCSB in the mid nineties, when I was a graduate student.
Immediately after reading this letter, Herbert A. Millington located the writer, drugged her, removed her kidney, microwaved her Mexican rat, planted spider eggs in her bubble gum, aced her Philosophy final exam with the single phrase "Why Not?", then wrote on her wall in blood: "Aren't You Glad You Didn't Flash Your Highbeams at the gang initiate hiding in your backseat who is calling from inside the house!?"
I have three interviews to report on the Wiki, and I can't figure out any way to update it. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? None of these jobs are listed as interviewing yet. I've followed the instructions on the Wiki, but there simply is no icon anything like the one it says to click on. I've tried several browsers. I'm completely at a loss here.
Re: how to update the wiki. You have to hover your mouse over the school's name or the date of the last update. A little bubble will pop up, which contains a link to update the status.

Why didn't I think of that?
Too bad it isn't real: http://www.snopes.com/college/admin/rejection.asp

Glaucon, if you say my name three times in front of a mirror, you'll get a free iPod full of backmasked heavy metal songs.
Of course it isn't real. Why would anyone think it's real? It's a joke, obviously, and a good one at that!
"[A]ssume the position" indeed.

Thanks! It works by hovering over the date but not over the name of the school.
